Although today has been a random music listening kind of day, it’s always nice to go back to my old trusty pop-punk roots. Although I’m not ready to commit to that sound for the entire day, I am willing to commit to the sound of Save Our Ships and their unique yet classic pop-punk sound for at least a wee bit right now.
“Let Us Live” from Save Our Ships is perfect. This four-piece formed in 2021 but have a very polished and together sound that would have you fooled into thinking they have been together for decades. An infectious and ear-wormy chorus with anthemic verses and an overall vibe that will make you want to jump up and down (even if only in your mind because your confined to a work desk) are the high points of this track but, really, there is nothing but high points here. This song will feel both familiar and fresh at the same time. If you’re a nostalgia seeker, you will adore the little break around the minute and a half point. I’m not going to ruin it for you but it’s an element that I haven’t heard much of since the early 2000s and it absolutely brought a smile to my face. So dance around a little and smile big– check out “Let Us Live” from Save Our Ships and be sure to show the band some love!
