I love songs that waste no time in laying down the law as far as a band’s sound goes. That exactly what happens when you hit play on “Fastball Special” from Wolf Fang Fist.
Right off the bat, you know you’re going to get something heavy which, oddly, is just what I was looking for at this moment in time. Wolf Fang Fist’s sound is a classic hardcore sound with a vibe that reminded me of everything from Blacklisted to H2O at times. It’s intense, it’s aggressive, and it makes you want to move. Epic breakdowns followed by shouted vocal breaks all make for a song that you can instantly envision a pit for. There are moments where, in my mind, I could see pit ninjas flailing across the open space in a dark and dirty DIY venue and other moments where I could literally see myself finding the guts to get in there and do some two stepping. Regardless of what you see in your mind as “Fastball Special” plays, you will see something and it will give you a burst of energy that I’m sure we could all use as we are nearing mid-day on what is proving to be an insanely busy Tuesday.
