Apparently today is pop-punk-perfection Sunday. I say that because the last track I shared with you was pop-punk-perfect as is this next one, “As Lonely As Me” from You Were Never Lovelier.
“As Lonely As Me” has all of the makings of a perfect emo pop-punk perfect track. It kicks off with heartfelt vocals accompanied by acoustic-feeling guitar before the entire band comes in and jets this song off into a highly energetic bop. I feel like You Were Never Lovelier has found the perfect balance between emo tendencies and heavy hitting pop-punk a la Neck Deep and Knuckle Puck. The song moves seamlessly between the two vibes creating a perfect sound that can only be called ‘You Were Never Lovelier’. As if this was all not pop-punk enough for you, this is a break-up song. Come on emo kids, this is what we’ve been waiting for! A complete throwback with a modern twist. I thank these guys for creating the magic that is “As Lonely As Me”.
