Were you paying attention last month when I shared out the magic that is “Tides” from RISE ABOVE? If not, no worries, I’m back to preach this band again with another song from them, “Time”.
Like “Tides”, this is not a new track as it came out last year but that doesn’t change how amazing it is. Kicking off with pure shouting, “Time” shows how chaos can be controlled and beautiful yet insane at the same time. There’s very much an Every Time I Die vibe to this track but also a slight hardcore influence that comes through in the drums and guitars. The track is unrelenting and, even though three minutes and ten seconds long, never really gives you a chance to catch your breath. I love this aspect of “Time”. I feel like a lot of songs like this try and break up the intensity but that typically leads to me losing interest. Not RISE ABOVE. I felt tied to this track all the way through and, when it was over and I was finally able to take a breath, I was ready to plunge back in and do it all over again.
