I’m feeling angsty today. I’m not sure what set me off but I’m ready to take on the world and curl up in bed all at the same time. I know which of these vibes I should follow but I needed that extra nudge to continue my conquest of taking over the world. Thankfully, Allaparus’ track “It’s Not That Bad” helped push me over that edge.
There’s an undeniable sense of emotion throughout this song. It’s a song about the struggle of growing up during this weird time and, although geared towards younger people moving into adulthood, I feel like this is applicable to people of all ages. The tenderness that kicks this song off wraps you up like the softest blanket you own while the power of the instrumentation throughout the song helps give you that kick in the butt that you need to get things done. Although the song never really bridges into the harder and angstier side of things like I thought I was in need of this morning, the emotional power that leaks from the vocals into the instrumentation is stunning and fills this song with staggering energy. At times this song leans into the pop-punk vein of things but, overall, stays situated in the alt-rock scene. I will say that there is a super intriguing part right before the three minute mark that bridges into a more hardcore style but it’s brief. Regardless of if these genres are your thing or not, the lyrics of this song and the presentation of the track overall is more than worth it for anyone and everyone who enjoys any kind of music.
