It’s not that I’m lacking energy right now, I’m actually feeling highly motivated, but I’m starting to feel my anxiety creep in trying to kill that motivation. I’m fighting back with the power and calmness that comes with “And They Were Roommates” from Over Anna.

I know, I know, power and calm are two words that probably shouldn’t go together but those are the two best describing words for this song from this Atlanta, Georgia based melodic pop-punk band. There’s a sense of drive and power in both the vocals and the instrumentation but there’s something super light and airy about how everything in this song comes together. You can hear influences from pop-punk greats like Fall Out Boy throughout “And They Were Roommates” but you also can hear some more depth like what you get from bands like Movements. It creates a super cool sound that is not only energizing but is also addicting. Vocally, I could have done with some more aggression and edge with certain words and phrases but the sweetness of the vocals is just one of the many elements that makes Over Anna stand out from everyone else. Check the track out and be sure to show Over Anna some love!
