I love songs that are all over the place stylistically. Maybe it’s because of my ADHD or just my love for all kinds of music. Regardless, “Big Tooth” from Superdime really struck me due to the blend of genres.

This song has a sense of tenderness in the guitarwork that comes off as gorgeous and sympathetic but the vocals keep this from feeling like slow moving or mature track. The words and the way they are presented have an undeniable sense of angst behind them. Whether it’s the way a certain word cuts to the core or how a line of words gains traction and aggression as the words pass by– I just loved the energy it brings to this track. Moments of this song have a more indie-pop vibe to them but the mathy feeling guitarwork keeps me from saying that this is an indie-pop song. Sure, you could call it alt-rock but the angsty lyrics heard throughout the three and a half minute track make me think this may be better fitting for the post-hardcore vein of things. Then you have the attitude behind this track which scream 90’s grunge. What I’m saying is that “Big Tooth” from Superdime is all over the place yet the song comes together perfectly with a sound that will get you hooked instantly.
