You know me an my trips down memory lane. I love them. I find such a sense of solace being lost in a haze of nostalgia and, for me, nostalgia comes most strongly from certain songs. When I’m in need of that solace and sense of calm, I typically turn to music from my past. Taking Back Sunday, Good Charlotte, Bayside– the list goes on and on but rarely contains a new act. That changed the second I heard “In The End” from Tony Pops.

Tony Pops is a queer artist based in Los Angeles who clearly follows no rules. You hear that in this song. There’s a heavy beat but with dreamlike vocals creating this ultra-layered feeling to an already expressive and emotive track. The nostalgia comes most strongly from the chorus in this song. There’s just something so familiar and cozy about the tone of everything happening in the chorus along with the typical composition of it but there’s something ultra-fresh about it at the same time. As I listened to this song, I felt myself dangling between two worlds. A world of comforting nostalgia and a world of exciting newness. Of course, for me, and based on the day I’ve been having, I chose to hone in a bit stronger into those nostalgic notes of the track but I love how, depending on my mood, I could change that. Whether you’re looking for that trip down memory lane or a blast of brand new sounds, “In The End” from Tony Pops is worthy of your attention.
